There is also still time for adding more new features if you have a good idea.

See the list of new features at http://www.simplefailover.com/kb.aspx?kbid=1298

Simple Failover is a software product which continuously monitors your servers (any networked device/service) to see which are up and which are down, and then dynamically updates your DNS records accordingly so that your domain name always points to a functional server. Additionally it can notify you of any encountered problems.

This upcoming v. 2.0 will of course be covered by our one year free upgrade protection. If you purchase a license for the current Simple Failover version today, you will receive a free upgrade to v. 2.0 when this is released.

Please e-mail us your thoughts and ideas, or post below, or in the all new community forums
We look forward to hearing from you.

Server failure - Missing forum and KB/news images

Over this past weekend (January 5th) our main Internet server died because of a faulty RAID disk set.
So for the past few days we have been working round the clock to get everything running again on a new server.

We had good backups of the all critical data (orders, licenses, etc.) and of most of our web-sites etc., but unfortunately we have lost the conversation data from our community forums and image files associated with KB and news articles.

This means that our community forums will be closed for a while as we want to take this "opportunity" to explorer different forum options before re-opening this.
In the mean time we are of course ready to answer any questions you have about our products and services by e-mail.

Also, many KB and news articles are now missing images or only have blurred/miniature versions.
We will probably wait until after the release of Simple DNS Plus v. 5.0 to replace the KB images, since many of these will need to be updated with new screen shots from v. 5.0 anyway.

We sincerely apologize for the mess - and yes - we have just signed up our new server for a Mozy Pro backup account.

Participating in Windows Error Reporting

Whenever an application crashes under Windows XP/2003/Vista, you have probably seen the prompt asking to send an error report back to Microsoft. This is Windows Error Reporting or "WER".

In Windows XP this is a one way process - you submit the data, and that's it.

In Windows Vista (and presumably in future Windows versions like "Longhorn Server"), this system has been expanded with an on-line solutions database, so that if a fix or workaround is already available, you can instantly get this information/download.

If there is not yet any solution available, you still get to submit the error report.

We think this can make WER very useful to our customers as well, so we have just signed up our software titles Simple DNS Plus, Simple Failover, and AWB Label Pro to this system.
So if one of these applications crash on your computer, and you submit the report to Microsoft, this information will automatically be forwarded by Microsoft to us.
And we will be able to provide solutions back through this system as well.

We also anticipate that this will help us identify and resolve any problems in current and future software versions faster, to the benefit of all our users.

So if the unthinkable does happen (our application crashes), please do submit that report to Microsoft - and thereby us.
But also please contact us directly about the problem with as many details as possible...
