17 Feb 2007 - Participating in Windows Error Reporting
Whenever an application crashes under Windows XP/2003/Vista, you have probably seen the prompt asking to send an error report back to Microsoft. This is Windows Error Reporting or "WER".
In Windows XP this is a one way process - you submit the data, and that's it.
In Windows Vista (and presumably in future Windows versions like "Longhorn Server"), this system has been expanded with an on-line solutions database, so that if a fix or workaround is already available, you can instantly get this information/download.
If there is not yet any solution available, you still get to submit the error report.
We think this can make WER very useful to our customers as well, so we have just signed up our software titles Simple DNS Plus, Simple Failover, and AWB Label Pro to this system.
So if one of these applications crash on your computer, and you submit the report to Microsoft, this information will automatically be forwarded by Microsoft to us.
And we will be able to provide solutions back through this system as well.
We also anticipate that this will help us identify and resolve any problems in current and future software versions faster, to the benefit of all our users.
So if the unthinkable does happen (our application crashes), please do submit that report to Microsoft - and thereby us.
But also please contact us directly about the problem with as many details as possible...
